Theory, Songwriting, Music Technology

Six week course and workshops in the art and business of songwriting. In addition to discussion of your original songs, course material will include song structure, stylistic assignments and in-class composition. Students must be able to present songs in class.

Class covers five essential topics to empower songwriters to record their material: Intro to Audio Software, Intro to Audio Hardware, Recording and Editing, Working with MIDI, and Mixing and Mastering. Students will experience ProTools and much more. 

Music Theory for Guitar

For guitarists with Acoustic III, Electric III or equivalent, you'll learn basic theory and terminology, including intervals, chord and scale structure, with practical applications to the guitar fretboard. And you'll work on basic note-reading skills.

Chord Theory for Guitar

For Rock Nation graduates of Music Theory for Guitar and those comfortable with basic music terminology and notation, this class gets into the juicy stuff: chord progressions, more complex chords, chord voicings, how to write melodies and more.
